New Hampshire is one of the Northernmost states in the USA and is supposed to be very beautiful in the fall, as we saw. The fall would have probably been much more colourful had we reached a week or two earlier (late September). |

These are neighbouring cities, separated by the Hudson river. The Statue of Liberty is on an island in the Hudson river and can be accessed from both shores. Photos in this album are from the Statue and from parts within New York City like the famous, forever-lit Times Square. |

Philadelphia is one of the most historic cities in the US. The declaration of independence was signed here and it also served as the capital several centuries ago. I was here for a 1-month observership at Temple University Hospital. Veena and I had a look around some of the historic and other places of touristic importance, like the Philadelphia Museum of Art. |

Worcester is a town about a 1-hour drive away from Boston. It is a relatively small town, but happens to be the second-largest in the state of Massachusetts and the third-largest in the whole of New England. I was here for a month at St. Vincent Hospital for a medical observership. This was the first place I landed in the US and it was quite an interesting experience. I also happened to make quite a few friends here in Worcester. |

These photos are mainly from Boston Commons, which is a large park in the heart of the city of Boston. Adjoining it, there is another park called the Boston Public Garden. The initial few photos are from the Boston Public Library that not only has a large number of books but is also known for its architecture. |

In June 2008, we visited the Smithsonian Natural History museum and the Washington monument. In the museum, there was a live exhibit of tropical flowers and butterflies. That was an obvious photo op. Most photos from this album are from there. |

In July-August 2007, Veena and I attended the first High-Altitude and Mountain Medicine course at Leh (Ladakh), J&K, India. The course itself was great, along with the sight-seeing factored into the curriculum, and the travel to and from Leh was spectacular. The Srinagar-Leh and Leh-Manali roads are some of the most amazing road trips you can experience in India.

The Youth Hostels conducted a cycling expedition in Himachal Pradesh during May-June 2007. The trip started off from Aut (6000 ft.) near Manali and we cycled uphill to Jalori Pass (10,300 ft.), a distance of 43 km. We camped at Banjar and Ghiyagi, before reaching Jalori Pass. The route is beautiful, especially the views from Sojha.

In early 2006, for a much-deserved break after the final MBBS exams, a few of us were in Uttaranchal for a skiing trip. We were an eclectic group of 10. It was a phenomenal experience - learning a new sport coupled with the surroundings of just snow till the eye could see!

After our 1st MBBS examinations, 23 of us headed North to the cool environs of Himachal Pradesh for a trek to Beas Kund. It was a 2-week vacation that we would cherish fondly for a very long time! |
